where have all the sleeves gone?

i've been thinking a lot about wedding gowns. because, you know, before we pick the date i should probably know what i'm wearing, right? ;-)

there's a trend that's been going on for a while, and i don't really like it. seems like every single lovely gown i've looked at is a strapless a-line. of course, they will put rhinestones on it, give you some tulle, even an accent sash. mermaid, plus size, taupe, sure. but all the dresses look pretty much the same.

but why do i want to look like every other bride? aren't i supposed to feel special on my special day?

Of course you should have a dress that suits you, Suzy. I've seen dresses with sleeves. In fact my friend's daughter who got married in Chile had sleeves. They were sort of gauzy. The midriff area was also gauzy and you could see her navel if you focused. I wonder if that would go here?

I noticed the same thing when I went dress shopping - but I've noticed straps seem to be coming back! Yay! Also if you want less 'pouf' try browsing the destination wedding dress racks, they seem to have less volume because a big poofy A-line dress would melt you in the heat of a tropical location. Just my two cents.

Great blog by the way - I found it via one of your comments on Weddingbee.
